Welcome to a new season AWOL Family!!!

Its no secret around my fishing camps that my favorite time of year by far is autumn. The season change always signals something deeply nostalgic for me...the world changes around us and therefore offers opportunities which may not have been there before. Specifically as this pertains to my love of fishing, this season brings back...memories. Good, wholesome, adorned memories on rivers. Memories of good days- spent on beautiful waters with awesome people-catching gorgeous fish and feeling alive, and content.

It signals upcoming holidays and good times to be spent with family, perhaps even a slow down in work for some of us (nod to my guide friends ; ) and a time in which we can feel more present and go fishing more. Anyway, I think that I just love the change of the season. Plus lets be honest, the biggest brown trout are out and about in fall.

We are off to a roaring start to the season here at AWOL. We have continued to work hard behind the scenes to establish relationships and future opportunities for our Veteran fishing trips, and have so much to be thankful for and prepare for. We held our quarterly Board Meeting two weeks ago and were able to come together with a solid plan for the remainder of the year.

Things are looking good for 2021 folks. We are going to be doing a lot of outreach work this fall, getting more Veteran outreach and engagement, as well as with new donors and partners. We had looked forward to hosting our first Gala this year along with several fundraising events, however we are going to continue the best we can with what we have to work with in 2020!! We are going to plan to host two big online fundraising campaigns, one on Veterans Day, and the second on #GivingTuesday which is set to go off December 1st. Our strategy with funding 2021 operations is to finish out this year strong, and be ready and able to offer our adventures to Veterans as soon as we possibly can.
